Chordlight

For guitar & piano · iOS 26

Stop memorizing boxes. See the whole neck, lit up.

Chordlight shows every scale and arpeggio across all 24 frets — or the entire piano keyboard — as one connected, color-coded map. Not five disconnected shapes. The whole instrument, glowing with the notes that matter.

Every note wears its meaning

Gold is home — the root. Warm colors are major, cool colors are minor, silver marks perfect intervals, purple marks tension. Shapes carry the same information, so quality reads even without color. You're not memorizing patterns — you're learning what your instrument sounds like before you play it.

  • Root — gold circle — home
  • Major — orange upward triangle — bright
  • Minor — blue downward triangle — dark
  • Perfect — silver square — stable
  • Tritone — purple diamond — tension

The program

01

Find what you hear in your head

Tap three or more notes on the fretboard or keyboard and Chordlight names the scales and chords they belong to. No microphone, no listening — just your fingers and the map.

02

Two instruments, one map

Guitar in 6 or 7 strings with alternate tunings — Drop D, DADGAD, Open G and more — and a full piano. Tap any note to hear it; scales, chords and progressions all play.

03

Built with care

iOS 26 Liquid Glass design with a dark, lit-stage look: notes glow while they sound and haptics trace the intervals. VoiceOver, Dynamic Type, Reduce Motion, and a shape system that never relies on color alone.

Fully offline, truly yours

It works on a plane, in a rehearsal basement, anywhere — and nothing you play is ever recorded or sent.

Questions, answered

Q01Does the Find feature listen through the microphone?

No. Chordlight never uses the microphone. Find works by tapping: tap at least three notes on the fretboard or keyboard, and Chordlight identifies the scales and chords that match them. Everything happens on screen; nothing is recorded.

Q02Which tunings and instruments are supported?

Guitar with 6 or 7 strings, in standard and alternate tunings including Drop D, DADGAD, Open G, and Open D — plus a full piano keyboard. Scales, arpeggios, and harmony work the same on both instruments.

Q03Does Chordlight work offline?

Completely. Chordlight makes no network calls at all — no account, no ads, no analytics. Everything runs on your device.

Q04Is Chordlight accessible with VoiceOver?

Yes. The board supports per-string VoiceOver navigation with rotors, Dynamic Type up to the largest accessibility sizes, Reduce Motion and Reduce Transparency variants — and every interval color is paired with a shape, so nothing depends on color alone.

Q05Which devices does it run on?

iPhone 11 or newer running iOS 26.

Q06How do I reach a human?

Email support@chordlight.app — it lands directly with the developer.
